Precarization in the world of work: analysis of the category of trained and uber-employed workers in Brazil

Abstract

The present article deals with the theme of precarization in the world of work. This study is a qualitative research, based on a literature review, with the main objective of analyzing how workers are affected by such precarization in their professional lives. The first analysis was made in the professional lives of workers who are in informal/underpaid jobs, and for this we chose the category of app drivers. The second analysis, on the other hand, was carried out based on the lives of workers who have formal employment bonds, choosing the category of Social Workers. It is noteworthy that the transformations that have occurred in the world of work, one of the results of which is precariousness, affect both categories, even if they are expressed in reality in different ways. In this way, it was concluded that the precariousness of work in Social Service is interconnected to a historical, political, and economic context that preconizes the relations and forms of exercising their work and that has been aggravated through temporary contracts, outsourcing, low salaries, and the lack of adequate conditions for the execution of their work. While the phenomenon of uberization is linked to the transformations that have taken place in labor relations, together with technological development, especially in communications. In order to achieve its main objective, this paper is divided into: 1) Uberization and the violation of workers; rights 2) The challenges faced by the Social Service with the precarization of work 3) Final considerations, respectively followed by the references.
