FOCUS AND SCOPE

The guiding mission of the Brazilian Journal of Research in Applied Social Sciences is to promote the technical-scientific dissemination of Brazilian and foreign researchers, on the themes of applied social sciences, allowing a dialogue between readers and authors, promoting the growth and enrichment of academia in more diverse spheres.

The main focus of the Brazilian Journal of Research in Applied Social Sciences refers to the areas of contribution of texts sent by authors in applied social fruits, promoting the dissemination and deepening of technical-scientific research.

 

BJRASS CONCENTRATION AREA

The area of concentration defined by the editors of the magazine is Applied Social Sciences, which brings together an important field of interdisciplinary knowledge focused on the social aspects of human diversity. Applied social sciences seek to understand the needs of society, the consequences of life in society and its development. The themes that cover this area, according to CAPES, are: law, administration, economics, architecture and urbanism, urban and regional planning, demography, information science, communication, museology, social services, domestic economics, industrial design, and tourism.

 

TARGET AUDIENCE

The journal's target audience will be aimed at teachers, students and other researchers who are interested in the aforementioned themes, promoting the development and propagation of science in the most diverse spheres.

 


FORM OF PRESENTATION OF WORKS (ARTICLES, ESSAYS, REVIEWS AND DOSSIERS.)

The Brazilian Journal of Research in Applied Social Sciences will publish in its biannual issues, works that are in the following formats, always striving for originality, scientific relevance and quality of the material prepared by the authors:

- Articles: Scientific works with a new and original theme, this is a publication of declared authorship, which presents methods, techniques, processes and results (ABNT 6022, 2003). For more information, check ABOUT > SUBMISSIONS > AUTHOR GUIDELINES. (SEE TEMPLATE)

- Essays: Publication with declared authorship, which explores ideas in an argumentative way, which may be the presentation of a study or the development of a specific theme (ABNT 6022, 2003). For more information, check ABOUT > SUBMISSIONS > AUTHOR GUIDELINES. (SEE TEMPLATE)

- Reviews: Consists of a text of critical analysis of published works (book, article, film, etc.)  up to two thousand words (ABNT 6022, 2003). For more information, check ABOUT > SUBMISSIONS > AUTHOR GUIDELINES. (SEE TEMPLATE)

- Dossier: Set of scientific works with a specific thematic purpose. Composed of at least 10 (ten) articles.

 


TECHNICAL STANDARDS

The magazine's standards will follow those contained in the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards - ABNT

The members of the journal's Editorial Board, as well as the editor, will follow the recommendations of the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards aiming at the uniformity of texts published by the journal. Therefore, national and international authors are recommended to follow the magazine's templates, according to the work they wish to submit for consideration (articles, Research, Essays, Reviews or Dossiers), as well as accessing the material for formatting.

 


TEXT SUBMISSION RULES

Manuscripts, texts resulting from academic scientific research, Essays, Reviews and Dossiers that present originality and originality will be published, aiming to excel in the quality of the journal and its policy.

It will be up to the authors to carry out a mandatory spelling review according to the language in which the material was submitted, as well as verbal agreement and other actions inherent to the textual presentation.

Works that do not follow the templates of the Brazilian Journal of Research in Applied Social Sciences will be rejected and informed to the authors, as soon as the editorial team receives the material, and will not be sent to the members of the Scientific Committee for evaluation.

The periodicity of publications will be biannual, that is, two issues per year, one publication until July and the other until December of each year.

 

ANTI-PLAGIARISM POLICY

The Revista Brazilian Journal of Research in Applied Social Science - BJRASS ensures transparency and ethics in research and knowledge production. Any irregularity that characterizes plagiarism or self-plagiarism and copyright infringement during submission will not be accepted. In cases where violations are detected after publication, the authors will be asked to correct the published article under penalty of having their publication withdrawn. The penalty of retraction may also be applied.

For articles with corrections in the published article, the indicated corrections must be made and the publication will contain a watermark with the corrected term under the changed wording.

For works that do not respect the conditions of ethics in the production of knowledge, they will be retracted (cancellation of publication), with the inclusion of an informative note followed by metadata in place of the original text.

Omitted cases will be evaluated by the editorial team. Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts adequately give credit to any and all material previously published and used in the research.

 


CARRYING OUT “BLIND” PEER EVALUATION

The evaluation process of articles submitted to the Brazilian Journal of Research in Applied Social Sciences occurs in two stages, and goes through a triple review system (blind review):

First phase: this moment will be dedicated to a brief evaluation by the Editor-in-Chief and the members of the Scientific Editorial Board, highlighting that whenever there is a need, the Editor-in-Chief will request, if he deems it important, the adaptation of the work in accordance with the themes and regulations of the Magazine, its scope, originality and originality of the manuscript received. It should be noted that only manuscripts considered to be of technical-scientific relevance by the editors and advisors, and considered important for the scientific community, will be evaluated in the other stages preceding publication.

Second Stage: manuscripts received via the journal portal, which comply with the journal's regulations, will be sent to the reviewers who are part of the team of evaluators

The criteria for evaluating articles will take into account relevance of the theme, originality of the contribution in the thematic areas of Applied Social Sciences, focusing on cohesive writing, bibliographic presentation according to the theme developed, originality, results presented, methodology appropriate to the theme, theoretical framework used , final considerations and collaboration with science, focusing on the areas of the journal.

 


REVIEW OF ARTICLES AFTER PEER EVALUATION

In possession of the referees' opinions, as well as the evaluation of a member of the Scientific Editorial Board, the approved manuscripts go through the following stages: a) by the authors, when revision is requested according to the referees' suggestions. It is noteworthy that for this stage of the evaluation, an online form will be made available, thus instructing the member of the scientific council to issue his opinion; b) by the technical committee of the Brazilian Journal of Research in Applied Social Sciences to review the standardization and final formatting of the article, such as pagination, and other elements that are part of the presentation of the material for subsequent electronic publication on the journal's website. And c) Finally, the journal's editors will carry out a final analysis of the content of the manuscript that has already been approved by the reviewers, blindly, so that it can then be published in the journal.

 


ACCESS POLICIES

The Brazilian Journal of Research in Applied Social Sciences strives for immediate free access to its content, following the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public provides greater global democratization of knowledge. The primary audience will be made up of researchers, teachers and students who carry out studies and research on topics related to the Journal's thematic areas. Articles from the Brazilian Journal of Research in Applied Social Sciences can be read online via the online system.

 


COPYRIGHT ASSIGNMENT AGREEMENT

The authors will have the copyright, as well as granting the magazine the right of first publication, with their text published and licensed simultaneously under the Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial License, which allows the sharing of the text with identification of its authors and original publication in the periodic.

The guidelines of the Brazilian Journal of Research in Applied Social Sciences aim to encourage the deposit of material, always mentioning the original source of publication, in institutional or digital repositories, in line with the Open Access to Scientific Information Movement, aiming for greater visibility and dissemination possible.

 

SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE

The researchers who make up the Scientific Committee of the Brazilian Journal of Research in Applied Social Sciences magazine are made up of researchers from different countries, considering the performance of each one in the magazine's themes, as well as the titles of doctors, thus stipulating a careful process of evaluating the material received.

The members of the Scientific Committee will act as Ad Hoc referees for the Brazilian Journal of Research in Applied Social Sciences, with the following actions as responsibilities:

- Contribute to the issuance of technical opinions on the textual material received by the Journal, according to its area of activity and language domain;

- Prepare opinions according to the evaluation form according to the textual format received (articles, research, essays, reviews or dossiers);

- Seek to meet the demands of BJARSS within the deadlines stipulated by the editorial team, aiming to consolidate the planning for the publication of the Magazine;

- Suggest, whenever necessary, the reformulation of the content of the texts received if the opinion for publication in BJARSS is favorable;

- Point directly to the file received for issuing the opinion, possible suggestions, whether regarding content, writing, spelling, or any other element you deem necessary, meeting the format for publication, being articles, Research, Essays, Reviews or Dossiers accordingly with the respective templates.

If Ad Hoc reviewers do not issue their opinions twice consecutively as soon as requested, they will be replaced by other researchers as members of the Scientific Committee, with their name excluded as a member of said committee from the Brazilian Journal of Research in Applied Social Sciences.

The works that will be published in the Brazilian Journal of Research in Applied Social Sciences must have been approved by two members of the Scientific Committee. If one reviewer approves a certain work and the other does not, the editorial team will evaluate whether it should be published or not, and if necessary, the material will be sent to a third member of the Scientific Committee for consideration.

The members of the Scientific Committee may condition the publication of the text, in the format desired by the author, on the mandatory reformulation of the content presented, as long as such suggestions do not alter the central idea of the material originally received by the magazine.

Members of the Scientific Committee are requested to provide opinions in accordance with the evaluation form, as well as changes, doubts, suggestions, highlights, insertions, among others, to be noted directly in the document (text that may be in the format of articles, Research , Essays, Reviews or Dossiers), as the editorial team will forward the material to the authors for possible adjustments, whenever necessary.

To prepare opinions, the members of the Scientific Committee will have a period of thirty (30) calendar days, which may be extended for the same or shorter period, according to the decision of the editorial team, so that there are no delays in relation to publication and respective periodicity of the Magazine.

If the member of the Scientific Committee is unable to issue an opinion even with the extension, he or she must justify in writing to the editorial team the need to send the textual material to another researcher on the aforementioned Committee, so that there are no delays in the evaluation process.
