Abstract

This study aimed to analyze how knowing is enhanced by working practices of woodworkers of a furniture industry organization from the theoretical perspective of organizational aesthetics. The approach of this research was qualitative, characterized as descriptive. Data were collected through direct observation, field diary and informal and formal semi-structured interviews. The main results show that these woodworkers learn informally and empirically. The learning process takes place through the orientation period and the exchange of knowledge between them as they perform their work practices. These joiners work in teams, intensifying interpersonal relationships. The organizational aesthetics was very present, evidenced in the perception they have when judging each work done, emphasizing the aesthetic judgment. In addition, the relationship between the aesthetic categories and the activities performed by them was evident. The most recurrent were the categories of beautiful, ugly and agogical, all of which influence their routines, practices and work environment.
