Abstract

This research examines the recent regionalization of Primary Health Care Units (UBSs) in the city of São Borja/RS, revealing territorial disparities in access to Primary Health Care (PHC) services. Using geotechnologies such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Google Earth, maps were created to show overlapping coverage in central areas and service gaps in peripheral and rural regions. Based on these analyses, a spatial restructuring of the network is suggested in order to increase equity and the effectiveness of care. These results highlight how geographic and social factors influence access to services, reinforcing the need for a more balanced distribution of UBSs across the municipal territory. Based on these analyses, a spatial restructuring of the network is suggested with the aim of increasing equity and the effectiveness of care. Therefore, the research contributes to public health planning by indicating technical and sustainable approaches to strengthen Primary Care and reduce inequalities in access to health services in São Borja/RS.
