CULTURAL IDENTITY OF CRAFTSMANSHIP: BOBBIN LACE IN THE RECÔNCAVO DA BAHIA

Abstract

This article catalogs scientific productions and various events, held from 2001 to 2022, which highlight the potential of bobbin lace, handicraft produced in the municipality of Saubara (BA), in the Recôncavo Baiano. The objective is to recognize, in these productions, the cultural identity of handicrafts in the territory and to contribute to the strengthening of this knowledge through regular dissemination actions. To this end, the methodology employed involved bibliographical research, with consultations to various sources, in which some aspect of the handmade production of bobbin lace in Saubara was mentioned and/or deepened as an identity element of resistance. In addition, on-site visits were made to the headquarters of the Associação dos Artesãos de Saubara to observe artisanal production. It was verified that there is no temporal regularity in the analyzed productions, such as, for example, the creation of a regular calendar of events that has bobbin lace crafts as the axis of the proposed actions and that result in the stimulation of local development. It was concluded that the recognition of bobbin lace in the locality, as an identity element of resistance, is highlighted both in scientific productions and in events held in the community.
