TECHNOLOGY AS A SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT TOOL

Abstract

This work consists of a study about the importance of Social Technologies (TS) and was developed through a bibliographical research on the subject. We know that technology is increasingly present nowadays, being used in homes, schools and workplaces, but this work also aims to analyze technological solutions or social innovation, aimed at generating alternatives in scenarios with levels of social vulnerability and/or economic, with the participation of an increasingly active society. The search for technological solutions aimed at generating techno-productive alternatives linked to education, public safety, the environment has already gained several names, such as “appropriate technologies”, “social innovation”, among others. In 2005, Brazil started to adopt the name “social technologies” to define products, techniques or methodologies developed with State and society interaction and that represent effective solutions for social transformation. However, we can observe that it is still impossible to confuse or assimilate these practices with public policies, even if one adds to the development of the other.
