Resumen
The objective of this work was to survey the cost of production and the revenue provided by the production of Africanized virgin bee queen (Apis mellifera L.) through the Doolittle method of larvae transfer, evaluating two managements, one in which the colonies of Apis mellifera L. are queenless and another in colonies of Apis mellifera L. are whit queen, supplemented with protein and energy feeding. Three production cycles were performed, with four replicates each. The survey of costs and depreciation of the materials used for the production of virgin queens generated a production cost of R$ 1.032,45 and R$ 977,67 for queenless and whit queen colonies, respectively. The marketing value of each virgin queen was estimated at R$ 25,00 generating different net revenue in each management system, being positive for the queenless colonies (R$ 917.45), while the management with queen colonies was negative (R$ -2.67), these results were mainly due to the greater number of virgin queens produced in the management of queenless colonies, generating the highest profit and presenting the best cost benefit, being advised to use the method in which the colonies are queenless for the production of virgin queens of Apis mellifera L.
