China’s Arctic Policy an insertion strategy
Main Article Content
Abstract
The research addresses China’s Arctic Policy indicated in its White Paper, specified as a strategy for insertion in the Arctic. The Arctic’s relevance has increased in global level, as well as the region has been severely impacted by climate change that is resulting in the melting of Arctic sea ice. This thaw despite affecting the ecological environment, has enabled the emergence of new economic opportunities in the region. Notoriously, China reveals itself as interested in Arctic’s questions, where its participation has increased and designed to legitimize its presence in the region due to new possibilities. In this wise, the study aimed to analyse the China's Policy main points for strategic insertion projected in the Arctic through the White Paper. Chinese actions for this purpose appear to be over cooperation and multilateralism with states in the region, besides to activate participation in Arctic’s governance.
