COVID-19 e petróleo: panorama atual e rumos energéticos

Abstract

The current analysis presents an overview of petroleum (price, production and consumption) in 2019 and 2020 as well as the impacts the current COVID-19 pandemic has represented for this sector. By stressing the difficulty in making predictions given the dynamics of the first half of 2020, this piece also discusses the role played by renewable energy in this scenario, presenting the occasional struggles between processes that prioritize the return/continuation of traditional energy use or the path towards energy transition.
