Trata-se de um estudo que busca revelar as formas de convivência entre a vida política dos atenienses e as tragédias. Nota-se que a tragédia assume uma identidade civil na polis, já que, as encenações envolviam além da população, os funcionários da cidade. Em meio a um universo mítico cívico o festival trágico situa-se no centro ideológico da cidade, já que os autores colocavam em cena as questões que a Pólis discutia: a natureza da autoridade, o lugar do demos nas decisões, os vínculos com o passado e os problemas criados pelas novas formas de convivência. Tragédia ensina, mas de que forma e com que objetivo? Certamente ela ensina no sentido em que toda e qualquer encenação propõe reflexão. É da natureza do teatro, buscar, indagar o espectador sobre suas certezas, e de forma a desenvolver um diálogo no qual as certezas tão lugar a reflexão. Com sua linguagem própria a tragédia aproxima tempos revisita o passado, anuncia possíveis futuros, tendo com eixo o convívio dos atenienses do século V AEC.

Abstract

This study seeks to reveal the ways in which the political life of the Athenians coexisted with tragedy. It can be seen that tragedy takes on a civil identity in the polis, since the performances involved not only the population, but also the city's officials. In the midst of a mythical civic universe, the tragic festival was at the ideological center of the city, since the authors put on stage the issues that the polis was discussing: the nature of authority, the place of the demos in decision-making, the links with the past and the problems created by the new forms of coexistence. Tragedy teaches, but in what way and for what purpose? Certainly, it teaches in the sense that any performance proposes reflection. It is in the nature of theater to seek out and question the spectator about their certainties, and to develop a dialogue in which certainties give way to reflection. With its own language, tragedy brings times closer together, revisits the past and announces possible futures, based on the conviviality of the Athenians in the 5th century B.C.E.
