i) Introduction: the Human Anatomy (HA) is a basic discipline for health students in which they learn the shape and anatomical findings location in the human body. For this to occur, several methodologies have been applied, including the use of dissected human corpses. However, body donations are few due to the insufficient clarification and theme debate, which was been surrounded by myths. ii) Objective: show the donation relevance and make the community aware of its importance to advance HA practices in universities. iii) Material and methods: a non-systematic research of publications about several aspects of body donation in Brazil was been conducted through the Pubmed and Scielo databases. iv) Results and discussion: the use of human bodies should be understood as a knowledge builder and professional posture, which allows the improvement of emotional maturity in the death face, as well as the strengthening of humanized medicine. In Brazil, initially, the collection was mostly from unclaimed bodies; however today the unclaimed bodies number has declined and is one of the reasons for the incentive programs emergence. An example is the University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre program, which has three functional pillars: the awareness campaign; donor-university contact; and the donation itself. Since its inception in 2008, the people number enrolled in life to donate their bodies has increased five times. In line with the other universities, Unipampa also started in 2017 and implemented in 2018 a body donation project. This initiative aims to raise awareness of the western border population of the Rio Grande do Sul, to capture bodies for the HA study in health courses, particularly in medicine. Thus, those interested in donating their bodies can express interest in the consent registered in Notary, accompanied by the Unipampa AH sector responsible. There are donation criteria, such as age 18 or older, family aware of donor wishes, body mass less than 110 kilograms, body origin within 150 kilometers of Uruguaiana, and death cause should not be due to violence, suspected death, or infectious disease. Thus, due to donation people resistance, it is relevant to clarify the body manipulation ethical issues, called "Silent Teacher", evidenced by the students and professionals attitude, prioritizing the affective meaning of human memory and ensuring respect and human dignity inviolability. v) Conclusion: for the donation programs success, it is important to engage students in society raising awareness, which is fundamental to the giving attitude and acting as a medical education collaborator, and at the same time, favoring the health services improvement.Downloads
